Chinqua Penn Plantation

Moms who have long wanted to tour the historic mansion at Chinqua Penn Plantation and Vineyards can do so for free on Mother’s Day weekend this year.  Chinqua Penn, one of North Carolina’s noted historic mansions, is at 2138 Wentworth Street. Mother’s Day weekend is May 9 and 10.

Mothers can tour the English countryside mansion when accompanied by a paying adult.

Chinqua Penn is a 27-room mansion built in the 1920s by tobacco businessman and farmer Thomas “Jeff” and his wife, Beatrice “Betsy” Penn. Surrounded by 22 acres of gardens and historic landscaping, the home is filled with artwork and elaborate furnishings from 30 countries. The site is also on the National Register of Historic Places.

Chinqua Penn Plantation house tour admission is $20 for adults,$15 for seniors/students with a college ID, $10 youth age 6-15, age five and under are free.
