The spring meet of the state chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America will be held May 23 at Chinqua Penn Plantation and Vineyards.
Admission to the grounds on the day of the event is free, beginning at 10 a.m. Antique cars will begin arriving at 7 a.m., and judging for the Red Bird Award, the highest one given by the N.C. Region, begins at 11 a.m. Food concessions will be available on the grounds.
The N.C. Region of the national antique auto club has more than 870 members in 16 local chapters, including in the Triad, Triangle, Sanford and Wilmington areas. The state group holds spring and autumn gatherings. A car must be 25 years old to be considered an antique.
The Chinqua Penn mansion will be open to tours during the car show. Admission, $20 for adults, $15 for seniors/students/military, $10 youths (6 15), under 5 are free.
